Cordyceps Extract 60 Capsules

£21.95

Cordyceps sinensis—often referred to as the "caterpillar fungus" (Tibetan: yartsa gunbu; Chinese: dong chong xia cao) is one of the most unique functional mushrooms ever discovered. Originating from the high-altitude regions of Tibet and China, this rare organism grows in nature on a specific species of caterpillar and has been cherished in traditional medicine for centuries.

Its earliest known documentation dates back to 15th-century Tibetan texts, but its use was popularised through Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), where it was traditionally associated with supporting vitality and balancing internal systems.

A Cultivated Breakthrough: CS-4 Mycelium Because wild Cordyceps sinensis is extremely rare and cost-prohibitive, scientists in China successfully isolated a strain of its mycelium in 1982, now commonly referred to as CS-4. This cultivated version offers a reliable, sustainable alternative and was approved in 1987 as an OTC supplement—marking a major milestone in modern Chinese herbal pharmacology.

What makes CS-4 exceptional is its similarity to wild Cordyceps, combined with superiorç specifications in key areas like nucleoside content. Since the 1980s, CS-4 has been the primary material for most scientific studies on Cordyceps.

Purity You Can Trust, Backed by Standards

To ensure maximum potency and purity, our CS-4 mycelium is cultivated exclusively in a liquid substrate, not on grains or rice. Unlike grain-based cultivation (which can result in up to 70% starch content), this method ensures the resulting extract is rich in beta-glucans and nucleosides, and has no fillers or unnecessary bulk. The quality speaks for itself—confirmed through certified third- party lab testing.
